Opening Reception on Friday, August 7, 2015 - 5:00 to 8:00 pm Show will run from August 7 - 29, 2015 The Beloit Fine Arts Incubator is proud to present two plein air artists for their August show. Kyle Martin is well known around Beloit for his plein air paintings many of which have won awards. From Reedsburg, Kyle approaches his work by observing and painting the effect of light falling on the landscape. His work is created outdoors taking direct inspiration from the subject. By using color to show atmosphere he will often return to the same location to capture different moods of the same scene. His luminous paintings are created with active brushwork and broken color. His work is done in oil in an impressionistic style. Click here to find out more about Kyle. Matt Holt is a self-employed medical illustrator whose passion is traditional art. Representational art is where his roots lie and it is within this broad spectrum for which he feels he can explore endlessly with his creative process. Often described as a tonalist, Holt utilizes a full palette of colors, mixing and searching for a harmony of gray tones. He feels that within the color gray lies the poetry and magic in a piece. Scenes of non-grandeur are what Holt takes joy in recreating, transforming the ordinary in to something extraordinary. Click here for Matt's website. Both artists will be on hand during the opening reception to discuss their art. The event is free and open to the public. |
