Beloit Art Center is pleased to announce the June exhibits which will open with a First Friday Gallery Reception on July 5 from 5-7pm. A gallery talk featuring the artists will be held at 6 pm. Both exhibits will be open through July 25.
In the Sveum Gallery, artwork by Rockford Art Guild artists will be featured. The Rockford Art Guild was originally organized in 1955 by 11 artists whose interest was to have a group of fellow artists to get together on a regular basis to talk about their art and interact with like minded creatives. The Rockford Art Guild has continuously been in existence since then. They have had small groups, like the first few years, but have also had up to 70 plus artists before Covid. Generally, they have around 50 artists, meeting once a month, to talk, give advice, share their thoughts about art and exchange ideas and creative processes. Atwork by the following artists will be on display; Timothy Griffith, Deb Sherman, Jill Martin-Golden, Cindy Bear, Don Hyson, Cora Hutchison, David VanDeLinder, and Dennis Dargel. The Sveum Gallery is sponsored by Senz Redieske Insurance Agency in memory of Mark Senz. Nancy Mayhew will be the featured artist in the Bell Gallery. Nancy teaches mosaic classes at the art center along with Qigong and Tai Chi. She is a cancer survivor and has asked to display one wall in the Bell Gallery for some of her art where all proceeds will go to the Beloit Art Center Cancer Fund. The Bell Gallery is sponsored by Daley Murphy Wisch and Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium. “As a cancer survivor and artist, I know firsthand the benefits of art therapy. When you are creating a work of art you are leaving a piece of yourself in this world. You get lost in the creative process and all your worries go away. You also get to meet people going through similar challenges.” Looking for more art in the community? Be sure to stop by the Beloit Public Library to view featured art by Cheria Giles, and Bagels and More to view featured art by Kelly Hausknecht. Member Artists Samantha Severson, Kendra Kett, and Becky Driscoll will have their works displayed in the Members Gallery at the Beloit Art Center. Be sure to visit us at the Beloit Farmers Market on Saturday July 27th. Qigong in the Art Gallery with Nancy Mayhew, will be held Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 to 11 a.m. beginning April 29th.
