Opening Reception on Friday, June 1st, 2018 - 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Show will run from June 1 - 20, 2018. In our main gallery, the Beloit Art Center will host local artists who are competing in a sanctioned Wisconsin Regional Art Program (WRAP) exhibit. WRAP exhibits began in 1940 to encourage the creative growth of non-professional artists. The art will be judged and meritorious pieces will be selected to advance to the annual State Art Exhibition held in September in Madison. In the Bell Gallery, Valerie Saxer is the featured artist. Saxer is a creative artist who uses paint, compounds, metals and found objects to create her expressive art. Her exhibit, “You take the cake! Find something to celebrate” is a series of small scale cake paintings on canvas and wood, which are meant to remind us to find something every day to celebrate in life. The exhibition opens Friday June 1st with an artist reception from 5 to 8 pm where the public can meet the artists. The reception is free and open to the public. Many of the pieces of art will be offered for sale with the Beloit Art Center retaining 30% of the sale price to help support its non-profit offerings. The Beloit Art Center is located in downtown Beloit at 520 E. Grand Avenue. The exhibit will continue from June 5th through June 20th and is open Monday from 10 to 2; Tuesday through Friday from 10 to 5:30 and Saturday from 10 to 3.
