Beloit Art Center is pleased to announce the July exhibits which will open with a First Friday Gallery Reception on July 3 from 5-7pm. A gallery talk featuring the artists will be held at 6pm. Both exhibits will be open through July 30. Senz Redieske Insurance Agency is the proud sponsor of the Sveum Gallery and Christofferson Moving and Storage is the proud sponsor of the Bell Gallery.
Artwork and scale models by John Wittenbel will be featured in the Bell Gallery. Wittnebel retired from American Airlines as an International 787 Captain after a 36 year airline career. He moved from rural Wisconsin to Minnesota, pursuing a career in architecture, where he met his future wife Jody. An early job with a St. Paul firm involved design and modeling of schools and municipal buildings, skills that were familiar from a youth spent building scale models. At an early age and long before the wreck was discovered, John was drawn to the RMS Titanic and her story. That early fascination came full circle when, decades later, John built the Titanic model on display in the Bell Museum as a tribute to the ship and her crew. Other pieces in the exhibit include sailing ships that pre-date Titanic, and aircraft that replaced her on the North Atlantic crossing. Significant Formula 1 cars and drivers from the 70’s - 90’s also provided inspiration. Artwork by John Kirkpatrick will be on display in the Sveum Gallery. Kirkpatrick is an Abstract Expressionist Painter from the northern suburbs of Chicago. His use of color, texture, and line represent the busy hustle and bustle of big city life. He incorporates a loose and energetic style that highlights his expressionistic fun lifestyle. His favorite form is the human body and anything alive.

The Inner Artist Lab, a mixed-media art journaling workshop, for ages 14 and older, will be
held Wednesdays from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on July 15 and 29, and August 12. Each session features

drawing by exploring lines, design, colors, and shapes. The cost for this 5-week class is $125.

techniques, and creating depths and dimension, with portrait basics and still life drawing. The cost

Beloit Art Center is pleased to be part of this year’s Bel’Art Walk on Friday, June 5, from 4 to 9 p.m. Experience art in downtown Beloit by strolling through three local galleries and an outdoor artist fair. Thank you to our Bel-Art Walk Gallery sponsor Nowlan Personal Injury Law.
Artwork by Billy Bishop will be featured in the Sveum Gallery. Bishop is a graduate of Milton College, with a degree in illustration and design. His works of art are represented across the country in homes and businesses. His love of sports, nature, and wildlife dominate many of his created pieces.
Artwork by Lynda Wallis will be on display in the Bell Gallery. Wallis’s art has been shaped by a lifetime of creative exploration, from illustrations to mapmaking to fine art and mixed-media. She was accepted into the School of Art Institute of Chicago and her art education blossomed at Viterbo College. “I loved that learning about art, art history, and simply learning were my raison d'etre.”
Beloit Art Center will also be having an outdoor artist fair in their alley; the Artist Fair will be open from 4 to 8 p.m. It will feature 16 local artist vendors with art for sales in the Alley on the east side of the building.
To end the evening on a festive note, the Beloit Art Center will be hosting a party in their alley featuring the music of Nick and Friends as well as a food truck and beer and wine for purchase. Enjoy the music while you stroll through the artist booths. The band will be playing from 7 to 9 p.m. This is a free event, and all are welcome!
The Wright Museum of Art on the Beloit College campus will host the 68th Annual Beloit and Vicinity Art Exhibit. The gallery opening will take place from 4:30 to 6 p.m. with awards announced at 5 p.m. This juried art show features 24 pieces from over 163 submissions.
Beloit College’s Gallery ABBA will feature the photography exhibit, “Expressions” from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Observe life through the lens of Beloit College students as they explore relationships and everyday experiences. Enjoy complimentary refreshments.

The Beloit Art Center presents Midwest Darkness II: Otherworldly, an exhibition in the Sveum and Bell Galleries featuring work by 22 artists from Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Ohio, New Jersey, Georgia, and Texas. The exhibition highlights “Dark Art,” a genre encompassing imaginative works with darker themes, including imagery such as otherworldly beings, surreal portraiture, and bio-organic forms. A First Friday Gallery Reception will be held on May 1 from 5 to 8 p.m., and the exhibition will remain on view through May 28, 2026. In addition, new work by artist Kim Eaton is now on view at Bagels and More and will remain on display through June.
Beginner Acrylic Painting 101 Class will be held on Saturdays, May 2 and 9, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. During week one, students will paint the same image while learning about supplies, color mixing, brush care, brush use, and design tips. In the second week, after a short demo, students will work on their own design or paint the demo image. Join us for this lighthearted and fun learning experience. The Beloit Art Center is pleased to present the 17th Annual High Schools Art Exhibit.
A First Friday Gallery Reception will be held on April 3 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Students, parents, teachers, and administrators, as well as the public are encouraged to attend to see the collective talent of the young artists in Beloit. Participating schools are Beloit Turner, Beloit Memorial, and The Lincoln Academy. The exhibit highlights artwork ranging from painting, digital art, mixed media, pottery, sculpture, and stained glass. Several pieces will be selected to represent Beloit in the Association of
Wisconsin Artists (AWA) Statewide Teen WRAP program. The work chosen will be exhibited and published at the Center for the Visual Arts in Wausau in September this year. Thank you to our April show sponsors Geronimo Hospitality Group and The Lincoln Academy for their generous support of this exhibit and the youth in Beloit. Beginner Watercolor 101 Class will be held Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on April
2 and 9, 2026. This class is designed for complete beginners - no experience needed!
We’ll start with the basics and learn about watercolor paints, brushes, and paper types. Experiment with fun extras like salt, alcohol, masking fluid, pen and ink, and watercolor pencils. The cost to participate is $85. Intro to Digital Photography II will be held Mondays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on April 27, May 18, and June 29. This course is for those with any type of digital camera who would like to improve their photography skills. After an initial review of exposure, we will explore light, work with both natural and artificial light, and learn to effectively use and control light in a scene. The cost to participate is $65 and participants should bring their own camera and camera manual. Beloit Art Center announces January Gallery Exhibits
Beloit Art Center is pleased to announce the June exhibits which will open with a First Friday
Gallery Reception on January 2 from 5-7pm. A gallery talk featuring the artists will be held at 6 pm. Both
exhibits will be open through the end of the month. Daley Murphy Wisch and Associates is the proud
sponsor of both the Sveum and the Bell Gallery artists.
In the Sveum Gallery, artwork by Kristine Moser. After dabbling with paint, pastels, collages,
photography, and clay, it is color and textiles that Kristine is most passionate about. She creates works
people want to touch. Fiber gives her designs more warmth and dimension and the next design always asks
for more. “My creative essence was only defined through change, the death of loved ones, and moving too
many times. It is only through these changes one starts to see what is left of the original self.”
In the Bell Gallery, artwork by Tara Glenny will be featured. Most inspired by nostalgic objects,
Tara’s work is created primarily from life with subjects under natural light. She gives a nod to the Old
Masters as she strives to restore beauty, craft, and technical prowess to the contemporary art world through
her paintings.

Introduction to Digital Photography. This course is for those with any type of digital camera who
want to get out of Auto and start unleashing the creative potential of their camera. Monday January 5,
February 2, March 2, and April 6 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Cost to participate is $85.

Watercolor 102. This class is designed for students who have taken Watercolor 101 or who already
have some basic experience with watercolor. If you’re brand new to watercolor, it’s best to start with
Watercolor 101 before joining this class. Saturday, January 24 and 41 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Cost to
participate is $75.
Beginner Throwing on the Wheel. Explore the creative possibilities of hand-built ceramics in this
six-week class focused on foundational clay techniques. Students will learn pinch, coil, and slab construction
methods while creating both functional and expressive ceramic pieces. Glazing techniques will be taught to
complete finished works. Tuesdays, February 3 through March 10 from 4 to 6 p.m. Cost to participate is
$140.
Handbuilding Pottery Class. Explore the creative possibilities of handbuilt ceramics in this six-week
class focused on foundational clay techniques. Students will learn pinch, coil, and slab construction methods

Beloit Art Center announces January Gallery Exhibits
Beloit Art Center is pleased to announce the June exhibits which will open with a First Friday
Gallery Reception on January 2 from 5-7pm. A gallery talk featuring the artists will be held at 6 pm. Both
exhibits will be open through the end of the month. Daley Murphy Wisch and Associates is the proud
sponsor of both the Sveum and the Bell Gallery artists.
In the Sveum Gallery, artwork by Kristine Moser. After dabbling with paint, pastels, collages,
photography, and clay, it is color and textiles that Kristine is most passionate about. She creates works
people want to touch. Fiber gives her designs more warmth and dimension and the next design always asks
for more. “My creative essence was only defined through change, the death of loved ones, and moving too
many times. It is only through these changes one starts to see what is left of the original self.”
In the Bell Gallery, artwork by Tara Glenny will be featured. Most inspired by nostalgic objects,
Tara’s work is created primarily from life with subjects under natural light. She gives a nod to the Old
Masters as she strives to restore beauty, craft, and technical prowess to the contemporary art world through
her paintings.

want to get out of Auto and start unleashing the creative potential of their camera. Monday January 5,

Watercolor 102. This class is designed for students who have taken Watercolor 101 or who already
have some basic experience with watercolor. If you’re brand new to watercolor, it’s best to start with

Beginner Throwing on the Wheel. Explore the creative possibilities of hand-built ceramics in this
six-week class focused on foundational clay techniques. Students will learn pinch, coil, and slab construction
methods while creating both functional and expressive ceramic pieces. Glazing techniques will be taught to
complete finished works. Tuesdays, February 3 through March 10 from 4 to 6 p.m. Cost to participate is
$140.
Handbuilding Pottery Class. Explore the creative possibilities of handbuilt ceramics in this six-week
class focused on foundational clay techniques. Students will learn pinch, coil, and slab construction methods
while creating both functional and expressive ceramic pieces. Glazing techniques will be taught to complete

134 pieces of art will be exhibited during the month of March at the Beloit Art Center's 15th annual
juried photography contest. 110 pieces will be displayed in the main exhibit. 24 will be displayed in the
newly formed student division, with art from The Lincoln Academy, Hononegah High School, and Beloit
Memorial High School. On Friday, March 6, the Center will host a First Friday Gallery Reception from 5-
7pm, with an awards ceremony beginning at 6pm. This month’s exhibit is sponsored by Nowlan Personal
Injury Law. Amateur photographers from the region submitted images to be reviewed by a group of three jurors.
Each individual reviews the digital entries and gives them a score based on composition, creativity and
subject matter, and technical merit. The three scores are then tallied, determining the images that are
accepted into the exhibit. The final in-person juror critique occurs after the images are delivered to the
gallery. The results are kept under wraps until the night of the reception, at which time the top ten awards are
presented, with the first-place award winner receiving $150, second place $100 and third place $50. The top
three awards for the student division are $50 for first-place, $25 for second-place, and $10 for third-place. A
theme for next year’s exhibit will also be announced. The exhibit will be open for viewing from March 6

Dot Mandala Beginner Painting Class: practicing mindfulness through meditative art. Mandalas have
been used in personal healing practices for centuries. They are said to be calming and can help clear mental
clutter, allowing you to focus on the present moment and be more mindful. This can help in reducing stress,

Beloit Art Center announces December Gallery Exhibits
Beloit Art Center is pleased to announce the December exhibits which will open with a First Friday
Gallery Reception on December 5 from 5-7pm. A gallery talk featuring the artists will be held at 6pm.
Both exhibits will be open through the end of the month. In the Sveum Gallery, artwork by Helen Klebesadel, will be on display. Born and raised in rural Wisconsin, Klebesadel’s art is the place where she explores her deepest values. She is best known for her. environmental and women centered watercolors painted on paper, board, and canvas. Her watercolors push the traditional boundaries of the medium in scale, content, and technique. Ranging in size from the intimate to the monumental, her paintings are transparent watercolors on paper, Aquabord, and canvas. Beloit Filmworks is the December Sveum Gallery sponsor.
In the Bell Gallery, artwork by Susan Porubcan, will be on display. Porubcan aligns herself with watercolor enthusiasts. Other mediums she dabbles in are cut paper, colored pencil, and acrylics. However, watercolors are where her heart is. Although she mainly paints photorealistic items, she finds abstraction can be a very powerful tool in conveying a deeper connection into the life of a work of art. Students new to wheel throwing or wanting to brush up on their skills will begin to explore the world of throwing on the pottery wheel in this introductory class. Starting with cups and goblets, we will also develop the skills to throw bowls during our 6-week class. Students will learn glazing methods needed to finish their unique pots. Students will need to provide their own tools, apron and hand towel. Handbuilding Pottery Class, Thursdays December 4, 11, and 19, and January 8, 15, and 22, 2026 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Cost to attend is $165. Students will explore the world of handbuilding with clay. We will examine fundamental construction strategies including pinch, coil and slab in this six week class. Students will learn glazing methods needed to finish their unique pots. Clay and glaze will be provided. Students will need to provide their own tools, apron and hand towel. Kids Holiday Gift Workshop, Saturday, December 6 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The cost to attend is $25. Students ages 7-12 will be encouraged by instructor Kim Klatt to explore different art materials, while creating meaningful, one-of-a-kind gifts they'll be proud to share. Students will have opportunities to hammer and texturize metal, paint in watercolors and acrylics, design jewelry, work with leather, create by collage, and more. No prior experience needed—just bring your holiday spirit! All materials provided. Students will create at least three holiday gifts wrapped, tagged, and ready for giving! Mosaic Snowman Workshop with Cheryl Kitzman, Tuesday, December 9, from 5:15 to 8:15 p.m.. Cost to attend is $60. Celebrate the season! Design your own framed glass snowman bursting with color and texture. Artist Cheryl will provide the outline and guide you step by step as you work with stained glass and mosaic pieces on a glass surface. All materials are included.

Competition on Saturday, January 24, 2026. The event kicks off at 10 am with the competition starting at 10:30 a.m. Teams of four will compete to finish the puzzle first and teams get to keep the completed puzzle. Coffee and pastries will be provided and the cost per team is only $80 if you register by January 17, 2026. $100 per team if you register January 18-21, 2026.
Looking to connect with other area artists? The Open Studio Art Group meets weekly on Thursday
evenings from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. to work on projects and talk art. A studio leader is available to help with tips and techniques. All mediums and skill levels are welcome. Drop-in enrollment is $7 per session. Beloit Art Center is located at 520 E. Grand Ave. in downtown Beloit. The gallery is free and open to the public. Gallery and gift shop hours are Monday 10 am – 2 pm, Tuesday – Friday 10 am – 5 pm and Saturday 10 am – 2 pm.
