We can’t wait to welcome you!
First Friday Reflections ...
There’s something magnetic about stepping into an art gallery on a Friday evening—the soft hum of conversation, the smiles and laughter, the quiet intensity of people getting lost in a piece of work. I look forward to these monthly openings not just for the art, but for the energy in the room. It’s where passion hangs in the air alongside the brushstrokes, and creativity feels both intimate and infinite. Each show brings something new—a fresh perspective, a bold statement, a quiet whisper of emotion. Its become a ritual, a reset, and a reminder of how powerful expression can be when shared in community.

BELL GALLERY - FORCED VESSEL
JANELLE O'MALLEY & MAEVE WALLACE
Picture
The mirror, a quintessential object of the domestic sphere, becomes a central motif in our work. An object which reflects the desire for validation, understanding and healing. In these reflections we are confronted with vacillating versions of ourselves. Disposing of our emotional weight and somatic bodily experiences requires self-awareness and intentional release. Becoming familiar with oneself demands deep reflection, and discovering the reasons for our suffering involves exploring our emotions, past experiences, and inner truths.

Forced Vessel explores how identity is formed, remembered, and questioned. Through both the body and the gaze, the reflective surfaces of mirrors and the spaces they inhabit, become entryways where we acknowledge these concepts through a slightly satirical lens. This body of work encourages all to navigate and discover your body in a world that often demands invisibility in moments of vulnerability.
Thank you to VISIT BELOIT  for sponsoring the Bell Gallery in July
