Beloit's Wisconsin Regional Artist Program (WRAP)
Saturday, November 27th from 9am - 1pm

If you enjoy local art, Beloit’s WRAP workshop will be held at the Beloit Art Center on November 27 beginning at 9:00 am and concluding at 1:00 pm. WRAP (Wisconsin Regional Artist Program) hosts exhibits and art workshops for nonprofessional artists in cities statewide throughout the year. Each location coordinates with a juror who gives critiques and awards at the local workshop. These events also include an artist demonstration or lecture. Artists selected for state awards have the opportunity to exhibit at the Pyle Center in Madison.

During the month of November, the Beloit Art Center has been hosting the WRAP exhibit in our area. This year’s exhibit featured 36 local artists. As part of this program, our regional exhibit will conclude with a workshop/demonstration and the judging of our region’s artists’ submitted works. This year’s judge and demonstrator will be Debra Grall from Baraboo, WI. She will talk about her current painting series and demonstrate the use of gold leaf in the painting process. The event is open to the public and costs only $5.00

Calligraphy for the Holidays Workshop
December 4th

If you have always wanted to learn calligraphy, the holiday season is a perfect time to get started. In this one-day workshop you can learn the basics and apply your new skills to holiday themed projects. The workshop will be run in two sessions. The morning session will be held from 10:30-12:00. There will be a break for lunch and the afternoon session will be from 1:00 – 2:30. The workshop is designed for the absolute beginner and will include mini-workbooks, a starter kit, and supplies.

During the morning session students will learn strokes, letters, and connectors with plenty of time to practice. By the end of the morning session workshop attendees will be writing words and sentences. The afternoon class will start with a short review and warm up followed by instructions for several optional projects. Workshop participants can practice and apply their new skills to make place cards, gift décor, or cards and envelopes. A mini-workbook will be provided with project instructions and students will be able to choose the project that interests them and complete it during the workshop with support from the instructor.

The cost for the workshop is $40 for the morning session or $60 for both sessions and includes all supplies. The class instructor will be Amanda Hermans.

To register and get more information on this and other classes offered at the art center, visit www.beloitartcenter.com or call the Beloit Art Center at 608-313-9083. The Beloit Art Center is located at 520 E. Grand Ave. in Beloit, WI.

November 16, 2021 - Beloit, Wisconsin – Beloit Art Center Receives Grant from Green Bay Packers Foundation

Beloit Art Center is proud to announce that they have been selected to receive a grant from The Green Bay Packers Foundation. The Foundation is part of the Packers' all-encompassing community outreach initiative called Green Bay Packers Give Back. It provides grant opportunities to Wisconsin-based 501c organizations for community improvement projects. Qualified organizations are eligible to apply for the grant once every three years. The 2021 grant cycle focused on organizations that will direct the money toward the areas of arts and culture, athletics, and education. This year the Foundation distributed $1 million in grants to 274 civic and charitable groups throughout the state of Wisconsin.

The Green Bay Packers Foundation honored its grant recipients during a luncheon held on Tuesday, November 2 in the Lambeau Field Atrium. The luncheon was held to recognize each grant recipient, as well as the role they play in their community. President Gary Dencker and board member Ben Henthorn attended the luncheon on behalf of the Beloit Art Center. The art center applied for a grant to purchase and install a sound system in the main gallery. The sound system will be used for artist talks during First Friday Gallery receptions and gallery talks throughout the year. The Packer grant will cover about 60% of the cost of the new system. The art center hopes to acquire the balance of the funds through additional grants and private donations.

The Beloit Art Center is a not-for-profit organization located at 520 East Grand Ave in Beloit run entirely by volunteers. Their mission is to partner with the community and regional artists, to maintain a center to teach, display and promote art through events, classes, gallery and studio space. Donations, grants and memberships are a critical part of Beloit Art Center’s ability to maintain a thriving hub of creativity in our community. The annual membership drive is current underway.
