The Beloit Fine Arts Incubator is pleased to announce Australian born artist, Derek Hambly will be the featured artist during May. Born in Melbourne, Hambly's art set him on a journey where he found himself and his truth about art. From his university years of loving the masters, he began to study himself. This led to developing his landscapes into abstracted landscapes, and then into hard-edge abstraction. From there, he went back to the beginning and discovered in his landscapes shapes, symbols and movements of the forces that nature kept offering. They eventually became the ideas and concepts for his present abstract expressionistic paintings.
Arriving in the US in 1999, Hambly opened his artistic career here with a solo exhibition at The University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. A rapid-fire succession of shows throughout the east coast and Midwest followed. Some of Hambly's recent exhibitions include solo shows at Steve Martin Galleries of Miami and New Orleans. Other shows during this period include Gruen Galleries of Chicago and Caelum Gallery in New York City. The Madsison Capital Times Newspaper reports: "The Australian-born painter wields his talent and unabated energy as one of the most impressive abstract artists to hit the United States in years".
Today Hambly has his studio and gallery in Jefferson, Wisconsin.

The Beloit Fine Arts Incubator is pleased to announce it will host its annual High School Art Show during the month of April. This show highlights the creativity of the young and upcoming artists of our communities. The artwork of students from several area high schools will be on display with a reception for the artists on April 3rd from 5 to 8 pm. The reception is free and open to the public. For those unable to attend the event, the gallery is open Monday from 10 am to 2 pm; Tuesday through Friday from 10 am to 5:30 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm. Located in downtown Beloit, the Beloit Fine Arts Incubator offers upcoming as well as known artists a place to display their artwork.

Over 35 photographers from the stateline area will be displaying their works at the Beloit Fine Arts Incubator during the month of March. 100 plus photos with the theme of “People, Places and Things” will be on display.
Three images will be awarded prizes with the winners announced March 6th during the opening reception. The reception is open to the public at no charge. Join us from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Artist, James Richter is a very versatile artist who works in oil and acrylic. Originally from Monroe, WI the artist now resides in Milton. He paints a wide range of subjects from nostalgic to humorous and shows a real talent for seeing things the average person misses. His art can be found in numerous collections here and across the nation for which he has won many accolades for his art.
"As the name of the show implies, there are over a dozen paintings from my 'Sign Painter series'. Works inspired from other peoples creative endeavors in the sign design and painting trades. A basically lost art. While inspired from these works I do not simply try to "copy" them.
The remainging 40 plus paintings are of subject matter I have been interested in and plan on revisiting again this year. Things to come. These subjects are Landscapes, food (eye candy),plein air works and some semi surreal work. I have included some work from the 1970's to show my earliest work, which was mostly surreal, to the late 70's which found me more interested in a more mature appreciation of impressionism. From the past to signs of things to come."
As well as work by artist James Richter, author Tom Warren will be featured during February at the Beloit Fine Arts Incubator. Author of “Discovering Beloit: Stories Too Good to Be True?”, Warren will be on hand to sign copies of his whimsical fictional novel written about Beloit and some of its residents. Warren is Emeritus Professor of Education at Beloit College and resides in Beloit.

Milton artist, Larry Schultz, will be the featured artist during January at the Beloit Fine Arts Incubator. Growing up in a small town in Wisconsin, Schultz was influenced artistically by his love for nature and the outdoors After 20 years as a professional artist, Schultz’s works can be found in public and private art galleries and has sold all over the United States, England, Belgium, Germany, Japan and China. He has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors and much of his art has been featured on magazine covers, posters, specialty items and fine art prints.
Schultz is accomplished in a variety of mediums including watercolor, pencil, pen and ink and sculpture, but oil is what brings him the most enjoyment. Whether painting landscapes, animals, portraits or figurative works, his paintings express the balance between the intimacy and emotion he feels with nature and the detail and mood of his subject. “ I want to paint in such a way that, no matter what the subject, people can't resist looking at it,” he said. “I like it when I paint something that moves people. When they cry, I know I have touched them.”
An artists reception will be held Friday, January 2nd from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Schultz will be available to discuss his work. The event is open to the public. Rockford Artist Featured During December!
The art of Rockford artist Paul Pinzarrone is featured at the Beloit Fine Arts Incubator during the month of December. Pinzarrone is well known for his computer aided art that uses imagination, fragmentation, color, complexity and a dream like quality to draw the viewer in.
Describing his art, Pinzaronne states “My work is a series of snapshots. Gardens, playgrounds, powerful and scary things….sometimes they are sweet, sometimes frightening, sometimes microscopic and sometimes really big. You are invited in to explore and play as long as you like - or until escape becomes too dangerous….” With over 30 years of experience, Pinzarrone is a nationally acclaimed artist with exhibits throughout the Midwest.

Vibrant colors and stunning craftsmanship mark the paintings of Marek Kossiba whose work will be featured during October at the Beloit Fine Arts Incubator. Born in Poland in 1940, Kossiba knew from an early age that he wanted to be an artist. His love of art sprang from watching his artist mother create her works but his ever practical father steered him into another direction. Joining the Polish Navy and serving with various merchant marine companies, Kossiba spent 20 years sailing around the world. During those years he was able to visit many galleries and museums that fed his need to be an artist. He used photography to capture the world around him and now uses many of those photographs as stepping stones into the paintings he now creates.
Today Kossiba lives in Beloit where he focuses full-time on his painting He describes himself as an artist who paints for love and beauty using his imagination to capture and explore a full range of emotions and character interactions. His paintings cover a wide range of subjects from landscapes and seascapes to sensuous imaginative pieces that draw the viewer through layers of meaning. Today his art is found in many private and public collections in the United States and around the world.
The exhibit titled “With the Wind” features oil and acrylic paintings, with much of the work created during the past four years. The exhibit will open with an artist’s reception from 5 to 8 pm on October 3, 2014 and is open to the public.

Sweetin, a watercolor painter describes her work as paintings created by accidental experimentation mingling water with color. Like life, the results are a surprise happening leading the artist away from the original thought into a whole new realm. Sweetin has been painting since the late 1990’s when a trip to France inspired her to take up a paint brush. Sweetin, a Beloit artist is well known for her exquisite floral paintings.
Blue, who works mainly in acrylic and oil, paints a wide range of subjects. She finds her inspiration in the world around her as well as from the depths of her imagination. Taking up a paint brush just 12 years ago, Blue relates that she is following the family tradition of turning to the arts after meeting her career goals.
The exhibit opens September 5th with an artist’s reception from 5 pm to 8 pm which is free and open to the public. The Beloit Fine Arts Incubator is located at 520 E. Grand Ave. Beloit, WI. Please join us for an exciting show by the Rock River Valley Woodcarvers of Wisconsin. Presented by local woodcarvers, they have created an eclectic show featuring birds, animals. Santas, busts, people and other wood carved artworks.
Refreshments and appetizers will be served.
