Beloit Art Center is pleased to announce the September exhibits which will open with a First Friday. Gallery Reception on September 4 from 5-7pm. A gallery talk featuring the artists will be held at 6 pm. Both exhibits will be open through September 24.
In the Sveum Gallery, Jeanne Garrett’s photography will be on display. Garrett, a Midwest-based photographer, studied photography at Barat College, and following a corporate career in communications, renewed her passion for the medium and devoted her creative life to personal photographic projects. The Charcoal Forest will transform the Sveum Gallery into a charred landscape through silk murals and photographic imagery depicting the aftermath of prescribed burns and natural wildfires. In the Bell Gallery, artwork by Em Johns will be featured. Johns is an artist based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Born in Beloit, they recently earned a BFA in Studio Art from UW-Milwaukee. Their work examines how human activity has reshaped and depleted Earth’s resources. Their work ultimately encourages us to reflect on the past, consider the present, and imagine how we might shape the future. Thank you to this month’s Bell Gallery sponsor, I-43 Storage.

Call for Artists! Entries for Beloit WRAP are now being accepted through September 24, 2026, for the October Exhibition at Beloit Art Center. The Wisconsin Regional Art Program (WRAP) encourages non-professional students and emerging artists to create and exhibit their work across Wisconsin. Mosaic Backyard Birds with Nancy Mayhew. This mosaic class is designed for beginner and
intermediate students. Participants will choose a backyard bird pattern and create a small mosaic bird within a frame. Students will learn how to cut and nip stained glass and proper use of a glass grinder. September 17 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Cost is $80.
Drawing for the Timid: An Art Class for Everyone (ages 12 to 80) will be held Tuesday evenings from 6 to 7:30 p.m. October 6, 13, 20, and 27. Gain confidence or just start drawing again. Participants will learn composition basics, the 7 rules of composition, material usage, and more. Cost is $125.
Free Drawing Lessons with Pete. Whether you’re picking up a pencil for the first time or looking to sharpen your drawing skills, join us each month for a free art lesson with Pete Stasukevich. Please bring your sketchbook, drawing pencils, and a kneaded eraser. No registration - just drop in Thursday September 10, November 12, and December 10 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Qigong for Fall Prevention in the Sveum Gallery on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 to 11 a.m.
Qigong involves using exercises to optimize energy with the body, mind, and spirit with the goal of improving and maintaining health and well-being. Cost to participate is $75 for eight classes, or $15 drop-in.
Open Studio Art Group every Thursday at 5:30 p.m. All mediums and skill sets are welcome.
Connect with other artists to work on projects and talk art. A studio leader is available to share tips and techniques. Drop in cost is $7.
Introduction to Photography I. Ready to get out of Auto Mode? If you’re just getting started with digital photography - or feel like your camera has more potential than you know how to use - this class is for you! Learn how to take creative control of your camera by mastering shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. Class meets Mondays September 14, October 12, November 16, and December 1, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Cost is $85.
