The Beloit Art Center presents Midwest Darkness II: Otherworldly, an exhibition in the Sveum and Bell Galleries featuring work by 22 artists from Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Ohio, New Jersey, Georgia, and Texas. The exhibition highlights “Dark Art,” a genre encompassing imaginative works with darker themes, including imagery such as otherworldly beings, surreal portraiture, and bio-organic forms. A First Friday Gallery Reception will be held on May 1 from 5 to 8 p.m., and the exhibition will remain on view through May 28, 2026. In addition, new work by artist Kim Eaton is now on view at Bagels and More and will remain on display through June.

Beginner Acrylic Painting 101 Class will be held on Saturdays, May 2 and 9, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. During week one, students will paint the same image while learning about supplies, color mixing, brush care, brush use, and design tips. In the second week, after a short demo, students will work on their own design or paint the demo image. Join us for this lighthearted and fun learning experience. The cost is $85 and includes all supplies.

Our monthly figure drawing open studio, hosted by Cheria Gillespie & Abigail Pixler, will be held on Monday,
May 18 th , 6pm-8pm (doors open at 5:30pm). If you have never drawn from a live model before, this is your chance. Come get settled in alongside other artists as you study and draw the human form in whatever medium suits you. The cost is $25. Bring your own medium/supplies.

Bel’Art Walk has been scheduled for Friday, June 5, from 4pm – 9pm. Experience art in downtown Beloit by strolling through three local galleries and an outdoor artist fair. The Wright Museum of Art on the Beloit College campus will host the 68th Annual Beloit and Vicinity Exhibit.  The Opening Reception and award announcements will take place from 4:30-6:00pm. Gallery ABBA, also part of Beloit College and located in the CELEB Building at 437 E Grand Ave, will be featuring the student Photography Exhibit, "Expressions."  The gallery will be open from 4:00 - 7:00pm. The Beloit Art Center, at 520 E Grand Avenue, will be featuring artist Billy Bishop in the Sveum Gallery and artist Lynda Wallis in the Bell Gallery from 4:00-7:00pm. The First Friday Gallery Reception will be held from 5:00-7:00pm with a Gallery Talk at 6pm. Beloit Art Center will be hosting an outdoor artist fair in their alley; The Artist Fair will be open from 4:00-8:00pm. It will feature local artist vendors with art for sales in the BAC Alley. To end the evening on a festive
note, the Beloit Art Center will be hosting a party in their alley featuring the music of Nick and Friends as well as a food truck and beer and wine for purchase. Enjoy the music while you stroll through the artist booths. The band will be playing from 7:00-9:00pm. This is a free event, and all are welcome!

Photo Club meets the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. to discuss photography topics and techniques, and when the weather is good, they do a variety of shoots outdoors.  Enthusiasts of all skill levels are welcome the cost is $85 annually or $10 drop-in

Looking to connect with other area artists? The Open Studio Art Group meets weekly on Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. to work on projects and talk art. A studio leader is available to help with tips and techniques. All mediums and skill levels are welcome. Drop-in enrollment is $7 per session.

​Gallery hours are Monday from 10am - 2pm; Tuesday - Friday from 10am - 5pm and Saturday from 10am - 2pm. 
The gallery is free and open to the public.
