GALLERY EXHIBITS

Beloit Art Center is pleased to announce the October exhibits

9/30/2025

Beloit Art Center is pleased to announce the October exhibits which will open with a First Friday
Gallery Reception on October 3rd from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. A gallery talk featuring the artists will be held at6:00 p.m. Both exhibits will be open through October 30, 2025.

Beloit Art Center is excited to welcome nearly 40 regional artists to the Sveum and Bell Galleries in
October for the Beloit Wisconsin Regional Artists Program (WRAP) Exhibit. WRAP originated in 1940 as an outreach program of UW-Madison and is now administered by the Association of Wisconsin Artists (AWA). WRAP encourages nonprofessional, student, and emerging artists to create and exhibit their work across Wisconsin. It is for people who have a serious interest in creating art. Each location coordinates a juror, who gives critiques and awards at the local workshops. These events also include an art demonstration or lecture. The top one third of artwork advances to the state exhibit, which will be held in 2026. Thank you to our Sveum and Bell Gallery sponsor, Nowlan Personal Injury Law.

Looking for more art in the community? Be sure to stop by the Beloit Public Library to view
featured art by Creswell D’sylva and Bagels and More to view featured art by Greg Lamont. Member Artists Ben Henthorn and Jo Christofferson will have their works displayed in the Members Gallery at the Beloit Art Center through the end of the year.

The Handbuilding Pottery class will be held Thursdays October 9 to November 13 from 5:30 to 8
p.m. Students will explore the world of handbuilding with clay by examining fundamental construction strategies including pinch, coil and slab in this six week class. Students will learn glazing methods needed to finish their unique pots. All skill levels are welcome. The cost is $165 and includes clay and glaze. Students will need to provide their own tools, apron, and towel.

The one-day Upcycled Earring workshop will be held Saturday, October 4 from 10 a.m. to noon.
Turn everyday objects into extraordinary jewelry! In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll design and create one-of-a-kind earrings using upcycled materials like leather, bottlecaps, beads, and more. The cost is $30 and all tools and supplies are provided. You are also welcome to bring your own treasures to personalize your piece. By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with unique, wearable art that reflects your individual style.

Beloit Art Center is pleased to be participating in Beloit Heritage Days and to announce the September exhibits which will open with a First Friday Gallery Reception on September 5 from 5-7pm. A gallery talk featuring the artists will be held at 6 pm. Both exhibits will be open through September 25.

In the Sveum Gallery, artists Beth Mastin, Mary Tilton, Marcia Smith, and Janine Bessenecker, all with the Crossing Paths, Traveling Together artist group will have their artwork displayed. This show is a collaboration of four artists who have been exchanging information, supporting each other, and critiquing each other’s work for the past eight years. While pursuing our own paths this collection honors our intersection: our Crossing Paths. As we present our individual views of the world as expressed through our artwork, we also celebrate generous spirits, individual accomplishment and - most of all - friendship. Thank you to this month’s September Sveum Gallery sponsor, DeGarmo Plumbing.

In the Bell Gallery, artwork by Clarice Chicks, curated by her daughter Lugene Chicks, will be displayed. Clarice passed away peacefully in late 2024. She received several honors for her watercolors, pencil drawings, and pastel art work over the years. She also worked in stained glass and calligraphy. Thank you to this month’s Bell Gallery sponsor, Bagels & More.
Looking for more art in the community? Be sure to visit the Beloit Public Library to view artwork by Jean Apgar, Bagels & More to view photography by Jo Christofferson, and the Beloit Art Center Members Gallery to view artwork by Abbey Pixler.
